DAVID GRADUATED WITH Honours from Montreal’s McGill University in 1978. He next received his Juris Doctorate degree, cum laude, from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles. In 1982 he was admitted by the Supreme Court of California to practice as an Attorney and Counsellor-at-Law in the courts of California. After receiving his Certificate of Qualification through the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, in 1985 David was admitted by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Barrister, Solicitor and Notary Public.

His litigation practice now extends over 30 years, encompassing serious and complex Personal Injury and disability claims, wrongful death claims, criminal injuries compensation, and proceedings before the Financial Services Commission and Pension Appeals Board. David has achieved outstanding results in Personal Injury claims against some of the country’s largest corporations, including railways.

Affiliations

David is an active member of the State Bar of California, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, and the Toronto Lawyers Association. Since 2003 he has been Chair of the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, one of the profession’s pre-eminent law publications.

Involvement

David has written and edited extensively for legal journals, has appeared as a radio broadcast guest on CFRB’s Law Talk, and is called upon by teaching and professional organizations such as Osgoode Hall Law School Professional Development, the Advocates’ Society, and the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, to speak on insurance litigation and other practice-related subjects.

David is proud to have achieved a rating of "Distinguished" by Martindale-Hubbell, the profession’s principal legal resource that peer-rates the legal abilities and ethical standards of lawyers internationally. He is the recipient of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association "Distinguished Service Award (2004)", in recognition of his furthering the justice ideals of the organization, and the "Dean Edgell Award (2008)" in recognition of his having promoted the goals of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association through significant contributions and excellence in legal writing, continuing legal education, and leadership activities.
