Consultation in Brain Injury Rehabilitation
Dear Bernie,
I'm writing to express my heartfelt respect and gratitude for the work you and your team of associates have done. I have been truly impressed not only with your skill, but more especially with your compassion and commitment to taking good care of your clients. My client's injury robbed him and his family of a good life − but he remains, despite his problems, a very good man.
In your role as his lawyer, you probably never had the opportunity to get to know him as a person all that well, but I can assure you that his values were well-reflected in how you handled his case. He is satisfied that the outcome, and more importantly, how it was achieved, is in keeping with his own high standards of personal integrity and individual responsibility. As for my client's wife, you treated her with sensitivity and respect she deserves, and never made her feel that her needs were secondary to those of her husband. She has been, and has felt, well taken care of.
As for me, well, this file has been a microcosm of all that I hate and love about this work. I hate having to be a witness to the ruin that is brought to good lives by accidents that are so meaningless and arbitrary. And I deeply hate the way most insurance companies treat their claimants, compounding the trauma and the loss they have already experienced. But I love "fighting the good fight," especially when I'm fortunate enough to have people on "my" side that share my passion for standing firm, using my wits, and doing the right thing by the people who trust us to speak for them. Being able to walk away at the end of the day and say to myself that I did my best is as good as it gets.
Thank you for that. Times like yesterday are what keep me going in this business, and go along way towards helping me stand up under the sometimes crushing weight of the responsibility. I hope I get the chance to work with you again − it would be an honour.

Congratulations on your success on this matter. I act for about 450 trucking companies and, unfortunately, some of their drivers are occasionally involved in very serious accidents which result in significant personal injury.
