Bridging the gap by stocking your local Food Bank

"Before the boxes and bags started to flow into our food room, the shelves were nearly empty and the warehouse was barren as well. "It's the lowest I've ever seen," one volunteer said as she rushed by, a bag of food in her arms."

Last month, October 17 was the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty. Initial thoughts are of far away places, and not of poverty existing right in our own backyard.  It's important to remember that poverty exists right here in our cities;

"Toronto saw nearly 900,000 visits to food banks last year. Over 40 per cent of clients surveyed report going hungry at least once a week, and a third of clients even report not eating for an entire day due to lack of money."

Dear Dianne,

On behalf of Community Care Thorold, we would like to thank you for your generous donations that helped fill our food room shelves, as shown above.

Before the boxes and bags started to flow into our food room, the shelves were nearly empty and the warehouse was barren as well. "It's the lowest I've ever seen," one volunteer said as she rushed by, a bag of food in her arms.

Individuals and families from over 300 residences within our community access our food program each month, and with your assistance we are able to meet their basic needs and help bridge their journey to self sufficiency. With the continued support from Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers we are able to help our less fortunate neighbours throughout the year.

We are thankful for our generous community donors and volunteers. Thank you for choosing to be the one to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

~

Betty-Lou Souter, Chief Executive Officer

Maxine Parshotam, Thorold Branch Manager
