As November draws to a close the calendar begins to fill up with holiday celebrations holiday celebrations that often include a few cups of good cheer. At Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers we want to ensure that everyone gets home safely from their festivities which is why Charles Gluckstein was very excited to be at Queens Park yesterday on behalf of OTLA to help launch the start of the 2011 Operation Red Nose Campaign. For some news coverage of the announcement you can click here. What is Operation Red Nose and how does it work? Operation Red Nose is a service that promotes safe and sober driving by providing rides to people who do not feel fit to drive home on their own. A quick call to the Operation Red Nose office will get you a team of volunteers who will drive you home in your own vehicle so that you do not need to worry about leaving your car behind at the party. A safe ride home and no worries about overnight parking tickets or towing is a great combination! This year Operation Red Nose is operating in 111 communities across Canada. Check out their website to find the telephone number of your local Operation Red Nose office. If you’re interested in volunteering for the program you can contact your local chapter. If your community does not have an Operation Red Nose campaign there are still many ways to ensure that you reach your destination safely. Here are just a few:
Try calling #TAXI (#8294) on your cell-phone – http://www.poundtaxi.com/ – to be connected to the first available taxi in your area, without waiting and without busy signals. This service operates all across Canada and the US.
Download a smart-phone app like the free one from Arrive Alive http://www.arrivealive.org/index1.html that helps store numbers to ensure that youve got access to a safe ride home. It also will connect you with local taxi numbers and information on local transit. You can find it in the Apple App store by searching Arrive Alive.
Travel with a designated driver.
Make plans to stay overnight at your party destination.
