What event would prompt a product to be recalled?

The decision to launch a recall usually comes after one or more of the following events: post-market testing by a manufacturer; consumer complaints about a product; reports of consumer injuries, illnesses or deaths linked to the product; recalls of the product in other markets; and/or government inspections.
