Recently, the Globe & Mail did a fascinating feature on a new public relations campaign the Ontario Bar Association (OBA) that launched last week. This educational campaign is focused on reversing the publics image of lawyers and in general the profession of being a lawyer. Specifically their objective is to change negative and incorrect stereotypes of lawyers and the profession.
Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers stands behind this new campaign and appreciates the OBA for taking a stand and supporting lawyers combat this unfortunate typecast. This campaign has been in the works for the past two years and will be utilizing social media, print, radio and poster ads throughout Ontario. It will also feature specific stories of individual lawyers that have done remarkable things within the field.
The theme of this OBA campaign is focused on what inspired individual lawyers to attend law school. In addition members will be encouraged to share their own testimonials online which will demonstrate the human beings behind this harmful lawyer pigeonhole. The negative stigma behind lawyers being dishonest and exploiting situations is simply untrue. The truth is, lawyers possess crucial expertise needed in so many life scenarios and they are able to bring justice to those in need. It is essential for the public to look past these stereotypes and internalize the important function lawyers play in our democratic society. Overall OBAs goal is to change the stigma society has for this profession, by trying to shift the attitude the public holds with this new campaign.
