There's still time to register for the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Fall Conference!

Always an excellent learning and networking opportunity; this year's conference will take place on Thursday, November 10 and Friday, November 11 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (South Building). This is a great opportunity to catch up on your CPD hours before the year end as the program has been accredited by the Law Society for 2.75 Professionalism Hours and 10 New Member CPD hours.

Charles Gluckstein is pleased to be one of the conference co-chairs. This year OTLA has brought in Mark Lanier as the keynote speaker. Hailing from Houston Texas, Mr. Lanier has achieved stunning multi-million dollar verdicts for his clients and has been called one of the top civil trial lawyers in America by the New York Times. He has led anti-trust litigation against the Becton Dickson Company, personal injury claims against the manufacturers of the drug Vioxx, and he achieved one of the largest verdicts in US asbestos litigation history for a group of 21 clients.

At present, Mr. Lanier is representing clients who have been adversely affected by the BP oil spills in a class action claim. He is also spearheading a class action suit for those affected by the faulty accelerators in Toyota vehicles. Anyone who has attended past OTLA conferences will know that it is always a treat to hear from our American trial lawyer colleagues, we suspect that this year will be no different. In addition to Mr. Lanier's talk, the conference features a number of very interesting and knowledgeable speakers over the course of the two days.

Our own Jonathan Burton will be giving a talk on the topic of the phantom client, Jan Fisher will be giving a talk on the definition of an automobile and Charles Gluckstein will be giving a talk on the use of paperless technology in the law practice. Charles will also be moderating the judges panel on Thursday afternoon. Click here to register and for a detailed agenda of the program. We hope to see you there!
