A Letter of Thanks to Our Guests

The countdown to the balloon release seemed like a blur, the air was filled with a mix of excitement, remembrance and hope. Internally we were all taking that moment to focus on what we really wanted to release with our balloons. Perhaps it was to send a message to someone who had passed, or simply let go of something into the universe.

Without a doubt we had Jacoub on our minds - was he watching us release these balloons in his memory? Did he feel the love from his family and friends who were there celebrating his life? Regardless of what you believe, there was something special that connected us all when we stood together to honour Jacoub and those among us.

When the moment came and everyone let go of their blue balloons, we watched as they floated higher and higher into the sky with our messages of love and optimism for tomorrow.

Gluckstein Lawyers would like to thank everyone who attended and participated in this event. It was a very special day, one that we will not soon forget. Furthermore, we would like to say a special thank you to our special guests; the Favila Family, all of our clients and their families, the Honourable Chris Alexander, PC, MP, Ajax-Pickering, Regional Councillor David Pickles, and Martin Graham (OPP) for attending the inaugural Jacoub's Camp.

We would like to acknowledge and thank our firm's Sponsorship Partners for attending the inaugural Jacoub's Camp; Teresa Korogyi, Sunnybrook Hospital; Michelle McDonald, BIST; Sarah Palmer, NeuroConnect, Louise Russo, WAVE Events and Rick Bye, Performance Driving Gift Experiences for ABI, SCI and Visually Impaired. Charles Gluckstein expressed;

"Jacoub's Camp and balloon launch was a terrific event to which we were very proud to host and recognize our clients. The event was significant in that we honoured the Favila family with a tribute to Jacoub. In addition, we were thrilled that our clients attended from far and wide to share their stories of perseverance despite suffering their own loss or disability. The day was shared with almost 50 kids who showed enthusiasm and spirit in completing many activities and games throughout the event. Our philosophy as a firm is that "you are a client for life". It is encouraging to see that we continue to expand our family of staff and lawyers to include a connection with the clients and community that we serve well beyond the time span of a case."

It was fantastic coming together for this event with our 'extended family'; standing united, together we released hope for a better tomorrow!

Jacoub's mother, Bloomy Favila gave a touching speech that we wanted to share with you;

The weather is a sign that in our lives it can be stormy and gloomy;
but, somehow, the sun will still sunshine;
will still give you the warmth that you are craving;
the wind will still kiss you;
those embraces that we long for from a love one will still come.
I know I have to be brave as I weather the storm of what lies ahead.
Thank you - because you have touched my life in a way
that delivers beauty and hope to advocate for others!!!
- Bloomy Favila

We look forward to seeing everyone at next year's client appreciation day.

About Jacoub's Camp

Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers proudly sponsored a new initiative, Jacoub's Camp, in support our client, The Favila Family. Jacoub’s Camp is The Favila Family’s most treasured vision; a place where families who have been adversely impacted by the negligence of drivers can come together for support, understanding and guidance. Jacoub’s Balloon Race was the launch of this dream and was our way of honouring our client while promoting the importance of responsible driving.
