Improving Accessibility with Innovative Technology

Birdies For Brain Injury
Written by Brenda Agnew, Client Liaison   Living with a disability, whether it be visual, physical, hearing or another impairment can make performing the daily tasks of everyday life more challenging. Simple things like brushing your teeth, grocery shopping, even making a phone call become difficult. These are activities we take for granted, but can be nearly impossible for people with different accessibility needs. They also affect the ability for many people to be independent and instead make them fully dependent on others to perform these tasks for them. Technology has thankfully come a long way and more and more we are seeing new innovative technologies being developed and implemented to assist people in so many ways. Companies are finding ways to bring people into the community and bringing the community to them. Making sure they stay connected with family and friends and the world around them. We are always on the lookout for information that we can share with our clients and their families for things that can help to improve their lives in big or little ways. And certainly for many of our clients who have sustained a life-changing disability, new or innovative technologies are things we want to make them aware of. Bell Mobility is one of the companies that has taken the lead on improving accessibility for its customers and has several solutions to assist people living with a disability. They have made available a range of products and services that have all been designed to make accessibility easier. Their line up includes hardware designed for hands-free usage and dexterity challenges, accessibility add-ons for data packages, enhanced 911 services and more. For the full range of available products and services please check out the links below: https://www.bell.ca/Accessibility_services https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNB2ad8Lue0   Jordan Assaraf is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Society of Toronto (BIST) and a Personal Injury Lawyer at Gluckstein Lawyers. He is dedicated to advocating for his clients’ rights. Jordan has seen how traumatic brain injuries can occur and affect not only the person who acquired the injury, but their whole family. This has led Jordan to become the personal injury lawyer he is today, and has also led him to volunteer his time and raise awareness about brain injuries by joining BIST. At Gluckstein Lawyers, helping you learn how to connect to your community is part of our commitment to full-circle care.
