Jan Fisher of Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers LLP, personal injury lawyer graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies from the University of Western Ontario in 2005. She graduated from the University of Western Law School in 2009. Jan comes to our firm with a wealth of volunteer experience: she volunteered with Western's Community Legal clinic and volunteered with Pro-Bono Students Canada. Jan speaks Spanish! She participated in an international exchange program in Spain. She is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and Ontario Bar Association. Jan joined us in June 2010 and has been providing legal services to our clients with the utmost compassion, commitment and care. Jan enjoys participating in community activities, as do all of our lawyers.
The Ontario Bar Association is holding Law Week from April 11-15, 2011 and in preparation is holding the Secondary School Mock Trial Tournament on Tuesday March 29, 2011 and Thursday March 31, 2011. Jan, being the amazing volunteer that she is, is judging a mock trial on Thursday March 31, 2011! The purpose of these trials is to allow students from across Ontario to participate in a simulated criminal trial and to gain practical knowledge and skills about the Canadian criminal justice system. Twenty-five teams of students compete and the finalists participate in the final rounds during law week in April. The trials are judged by volunteer lawyers and judges from the community. This is the 30th year this program is taking place.
More exciting news: Jan also is also a theatre actress! The Lawyer Show 2011, starring a cast of 35 lawyers, will put on a production of William Shakespeare's As You Like It. One of the biggest legal events of the year, The Lawyer Show is Night-wood Theatre's annual fundraiser. The cast and crew rehearse for over 2 months for the purpose of pure entertainment! Come out and see Shakespeare's classic comedy about mistaken identity, romantic pursuits, thrilling hi-jinks and of course, usurpation, adapted to a contemporary setting. Tickets are now on sale and include a partial tax receipt. Show dates are June 9-11, 2011. We're rooting for you Dame Jan!!!!!! All the worlds a stage And all the men and women merely lawyers; They have their exits and their entrances, And one man in his time plays many parts. adapted from As You Like It (courtesy of www.Night-woodtheatre.net)
