A woman lost her life in an accident northwest of Toronto in Halton Hills on June 3 just before 5:00 p.m. Negligence has not yet been determined in the case involving a transport truck and a passenger vehicle.
According to police, the accident occurred between Fifth and Sixth Line on Steeles Avenue. The transport truck was carrying fertilizer. After colliding with the passenger vehicle, the truck drove into a ditch and hit a hydro pole. Police and hydro crews responded to the scene.
The driver of the passenger vehicle was 59 years old and from Kitchener. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 33-year-old driver of the truck from Brampton did not sustain any known injuries. The site was expected to remain closed into the evening hours.
When a person dies in a fatal car crash, fatal truck accident or other deadly accident, the loved ones of the decedent may consider filing a wrongful death lawsuit. Through this type of claim, some of the family members of a decedent may be able to recover damages for the loss of their loved one's life, such as those to cover the expenses of a funeral. Additionally, survivors may be able to try to recover the lost income that the deceased contributed to the household.
However, before the family is able to recover anything, negligence must first be proven. A lawyer may be able to conduct an investigation to determine the cause of the accident and use this information to prove that the defendant acted in an unreasonable manner.
